BOLTON U3A WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS

What is the Third Age?

The Third Age is the period of time after the First Age meaning childhood and the Second Age of full-time employment and/or parental responsibility.

Why are we called the U3A?

A U3A is a university in the original sense of the word; a group of people devoted to learning whose members are in the Third Age.

Who can join the U3A?

Anyone in the Third Age can join a U3A - all you need is interest and enthusiasm. It has members, not students. Members need no qualifications and there are no exams to pass.

How are U3As organised?

U3As are democratic, self-funded, self-managed organisations that exist to provide daytime educational activities for retired men and women at minimal cost. They make full use of the knowledge, experience and skills of their members. In the UK there are 638 U3As and 186320 members sharing learning experiences.

By joining the local U3A you will become a member of a growing, dynamic, outward-looking organisation which has a positive and creative approach to retirement.
